The Royal Dutch Lifeboat Company Old Life Glory moors at Het Scheepvaartmuseum with the Bernard van Leer and tells visitors about rescuing drowning victims through the years.
The KNRM helps and rescues people in distress on the water through 45 rescue stations along the coast. A fleet of 75 lifeboats manned by 1,400 volunteers is available to respond to any emergency. This happens more than 2,000 times a year, helping or saving more than 3,000 people.
The association members of KNRM ORG focus primarily on keeping former lifeboats like the Bernard van Leer in operation and they keep the nautical history alive by telling stories about the KNRM such as during Zeehavendagen.
Visitors to Het Scheepvaartmuseum can find the Bernard van Leer on the jetty next to the building. A maximum of two people can board the ship at a time for guided tours, which are given on request.
On the occasion of Zeehavendagen Amsterdam, you will receive a 50% discount on your online ticket on 25 and 26 June. Enter zeehavendagen2022 if you want to take advantage of this offer!
