Experience up close how waste from the Netherlands and other countries is processed to be converted into energy that flows back into Amsterdam's grid, among other things. Then take a tour at the Afval Energie Bedrijf (AEB).

The AEB is one of the largest waste processing companies in Europe. Unique that this Amsterdam-based organization opens its doors to show the public how the process of waste intake, processing and output works. So that's what happens to our waste, is a comment often heard when visitors have been to the AEB.

Energy for the city
Every year, this plant processes 1.4 million tons of waste that is converted into energy for the city as sustainably and cleanly as possible. This is done by extracting as much (re)usable material from the waste as possible. What remains of unusable residue also has value. The entire process contributes to Amsterdam's sustainability ambitions and those of surrounding municipalities and companies with which AEB cooperates.
