Up the IJ with the Christiaan Brunings

June 29-30
Amsterdam
16 years

Normally at the jetty of Het Scheepvaartmuseum but now available for two days for Seaport Days to take fun trips across the IJ. We are talking about the Christiaan Brunings, launched as an icebreaker (yes yes) in 1900 by order of the Department of Public Works.

With furnishings luxurious for the time, the steamship - named after the founder of Rijkswaterstaat - also served as an executive ship. In cooperation with Het Scheepvaartmuseum and thanks to the support of several companies, the Christiaan Brunings still sails out. So on June 29 and 30 for visitors to Zeehavendagen Amsterdam.

Volunteers
Thanks to a group of dedicated volunteers, the Christiaan Brunings stays afloat. This group maintains the ship and welcomes you on board before you leave. They can tell you great stories about this unique vessel during open ship at the Javakade and along the way.

Duration and tickets
The Christiaan Brunings offers continuous trips of just under an hour across the IJ during the Seaport Days weekend. In our ticket system you can order free tickets for each whole hour. Should you have booked for another hour and still want to sail on another one, you do not need to purchase a new ticket.
