Koopman Car Terminal
8 years

Koopman Car Terminal is one of the most dynamic locations in the Port of Amsterdam. During the tour of the huge complex, you'll drive through the heart of the movement of hundreds of cars every day.

At this location, 150 people work getting vehicles in the right place or preparing used vehicles for the second-hand market. So you'll encounter a wide variety of occupations at Koopman: from mechanics to hikers. Visitors witness the process and see up close how the employees carry it out.

150,000 cars
The car terminal at Westhaven has existed since the construction of Westpoort in the 1960s. Since 2004, the complex has been owned by Koopman Logistics Group and more than 150,000 cars a year pass the barrier on their way to their owners. The Groningen family business takes care of the storage, preparation and distribution of cars, but what many people don't know is that all kinds of related activities also take place here: extensive inspections, damage repair, thorough cleaning of vehicles and photography.

Free tour
Not only new cars, but also used cars come in to the terminal. For that service, Koopman has a huge garage at the terminal, where a large club of people prepare used cars for the second-hand market every day. That part of the business is also covered extensively during the tour of the terminal. The tours last an hour on average.
