Open ship on the Hr.Ms.Mahu
June 30, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Zaanstad
12 years
The Mahu will hold open ship on the quay of the Zaan near the old Verkadefabriek for much of the day on Sunday, June 30.
The crew consists of veterans of the Royal Navy. They enjoy explaining the ship when it was operational. A tour is truly enjoyable for lovers of this former floating war material. Also for children, as a tour of the vessel is like a scavenger hunt.
Sailing Heritage
Behind the preservation of the Mahu is the Stichting Promotie Maritieme Tradities. The main objective of this society is to preserve and make publicly accessible the cultural and material heritage, with its associated history, of the Royal Netherlands Navy. The restoration and reactivation of the historic shallow water minesweeper Hr.Ms.Mahu (M880) is an example of this. The vessel belongs to the Sailing Heritage of the Royal Navy.
