Damen Shiprepair remains in North
Damen Shiprepair Oranjewerf can continue to do business for the next 5 to 10 years where the company is now located. On the Nieuwerdammerdijk in Amsterdam-North.

Damen Shiprepair Oranjewerf initially had to move to another site because its lease expired in January 2025. The land on which the company is located has had a new owner since 2021 and they want to start residential construction. In the Netherlands, the owner is represented by Flying Point Real Estate. Now that lease renewal has been arranged with the municipality by the management of Damen Shiprepair Oranjewerf, construction cannot take place at that location.
Established in 1949
Damen Shiprepair Oranjewerf is an internationally oriented ship repair yard employing approximately 30 people. The company was founded in 1949 and has always been at the same location in Amsterdam- Noord. Since 1989, the Oranjewerf - as it is called in Amsterdam-North - has been part of the Damen Shipyard Group. Just like Damen Shiprepair Amsterdam, which sits further along the IJ River.
VOC ship Amsterdam
Damen Shiprepair Oranjewerf is a specialist in ship repair, restoration, conversion and maintenance. The yard does construction work and machining. One of Damen's loyal customers is 'neighbor' GVB, which maintains its ferries at the yard. Passenger ships are also regularly moored there. A few years ago, the wooden replica of the VOC ship Amsterdam was also in dock for a refit, the eye-catcher for Het Scheepvaartmuseum. That kind of assignment makes Damen Shiprepair Oranjewerf unique of its kind. The skyline on this side of Amsterdam is also defined by the floating dry dock, which offers a capacity of 6,000 tons. And the 100-meter transverse slipway, which is striking for the shipyard.
