The ports of IJmuiden, Beverwijk, Zaanstad, and Amsterdam together form Amsterdam Seaports, the fourth largest port in Europe. More than 80,000 people work in the ports of the North Sea Canal area, and more than 1,000 port-related companies are located there. Seaports Amsterdam is the most important economic engine for the North Holland region. But how much do you really know about this port?

Cocoa and biofuel
For example, did you know that Amsterdam is the largest cocoa port in the world? Do you have any idea how much biofuel is produced here? Do you know what is involved in guiding ships passing through the port? Have you ever seen the port so close from the water, sailing on one of the ships in our program? It is possible during Zeehavendagen Amsterdam.

Program 2026
Zeehavendagen Amsterdam held for the fifth time this year from June 19-21. For the first time, the event will be part of a maritime week, during which more activities will be organized. The main theme of our event is the future of ports and shipping.

Like every year, Seaport Days is all about getting to know the port. You do this through numerous available port tours, free demo tours, open ship and behind-the-scenes tours at port companies. To let you see everything up close as much as possible, we bring everything together as much as possible on the festival grounds on the Java Island behind Amsterdam CS.

Working in the port
Zeehavendagen Amsterdam June 18, one day before the public event begins with guided tours and possibly a cruise day,Zeehavendagen Amsterdam on education. On that day and on Friday, June 19, we will focus on schoolchildren, students, and port companies looking for young talent. On that day, we will organize the (Port) Promotion Event Technology and the Port Hackathon. Go to the Education page for more information.
